My last day of FREEDOM

I prayed and prayed and asked God to guide me and for him to put me where he wanted me. Last Sunday Bro. Jimmy was preaching and he said "You are not at work for a job. You are at work because God purposely placed you there." That spoke directly to me. For those of you that know me you know that I have been trying to get a job for about 5 months and I have been trying to get on at NMMC for 3 1/2 months. I was so disappointed because it was taking so long to get a job. Opportunities would come and go and still no interview and no job. For those that know me you know patience is not one of my virtures. Well God had a plan and he was teaching me patience. He placed me in my new job for a purpose.

Today is my last day of freedom. Monday I start my new job at NMMC in the Business Office. I am sad, but also excited. I love my kids and have been home with them for 10 years. On the other hand it will be so nice to have conversations with adults. The paycheck won't be bad either! Since the economy has gone to pot we need the extra money.

Yes, I will still homeschool the girls. They will do most of their school work during the day and I will help them with the rest at night. They will also do chores and have supper cooked when we get home from work.

Cleaned out the Hall Closet

About a week ago we cleaned out the hall closet. This closet catches everything we don't want to deal with at the time. When we were done we had two black garbage bags of trash, a bag to donate, and lots of stuff to take to the consignment store.

Music for my MP3 Player

I got an MP3 player a couple years ago for Christmas and I have never used it. I decided I need it when I am walking to give me some pep in my step. I have had the best time looking for 80's songs to put on it. I can't believe that I download my first song from Amazon today!

Here is what I downloaded to put on my MP3:

Uptown Girl - Billy Joel
I'm Every Woman - Chaka Khan
You're the Inspiration - Chicago
Nothing is Going To Stop Us Now - Starship
Walking on Sunshine - Katrina
Get Down Tonight - KC and the Sunshine Band
Celebration - Kool & the Gang
Get Down on It - Kool & the Gang
Born to Run - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Little Red Corvette - Prince
Another One Bites the Dust - Queen
Eye of the Tiger - Survivor

Now I just need Nick to load them on my MP3!

Mother's Day

I woke up this morning to a great breakfast that Phil cooked. Ashley had made me a card, Emilee bought me a card, and Phil got me a card and a dozen roses! I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day.

Gumtree 2009

Last week the girls started running with our homeschool groups cross country team. I am so proud of them for running in and finishing the Gumtree 2K(1 1/4 mile) race today. Ashley ran it in approx 10:30 and Emilee in 10:45. I think that is pretty good considering they are just starting. In a couple of weeks they are going to run a 5K.

One Down Two To Go

On May 1, 2009 Nick graduated high school. Our homeschool group had a beautiful graduation ceremony. I am really proud of Nick. He started college a year early so he already has 40 hours. He is going to get a dual degree in Computer Programming/Local Area Networking.

Now if I can just get Emilee and Ashley through school I will be home free! LOL

Homeschool Family Teen Night

Last night we had our homeschool family tween/teen night. There were not as many people in attendance as normal, but we had a great time. I really enjoyed the fellowship with the homeschool moms and dads. Kaelan taught us how to play Blokus, Blink, & Set. I think I will buy Blokus for our family. I hope to see everyone at our next meeting in April.

Nick & Emilee earned Congressional Awards

A couple of weeks ago we went to Jackson to the Capitol so the kids could receive their awards. Nick earned the Silver Award and Emilee earned the Bronze Award. We are hoping they can both go to Washington DC next year to get their Gold Awards. There is going to have to be a lot of money raised between now and then!

Here are the kids pictures with them accepting their awards.
Find out more about the Congressional Award here.

Snow in North MS

I was so excited to see snow when I got up this morning. We have heard over and over again that we would get snow and NOTHING happens. Anyway, I woke the kids up around 7:30 and they bundled up and went outside. They really had fun playing in it while it lasted. Our dog Smiles(who needs a new home) loved running and playing in the snow. She even chased snowballs! We wish that James and Julia was here to play in the snow too! Hope you enjoy our photo's.
